Gemini 4 Argon reaches paying Gemini users
Gemini 4 Argon has moved beyond its limited launch. Our 8 October item covered the 30 September announcement, when access was restricted to vetted cyber defenders. Reports dated from 13 October say it has since begun reaching paying subscribers. This is a late catch, as the rollout started ten days ago.
Per those reports, the rollout is staged by plan:
- Gemini app and AI Mode in Search: Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, from 13 October. Free and AI Plus plans do not list Argon.
- Antigravity (desktop app and CLI): AI Ultra and eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions from 13 October. Reports from 15 October say AI Pro followed, with its own weekly-only Argon quota. Early coverage called it Ultra-only, so treat Pro access as gradual.
- API: reported on the paid Gemini API tier.
Google pitches Argon at coding, enterprise knowledge work and cyber defence. The benchmark claims are Google's own. It says Argon is comparable to OpenAI's Astra and Anthropic's Opus on key coding and cyber tests; Khaleej Times noted it trails them on two of four coding benchmarks in the release. Google also said it no longer plans to release Gemini 3.5 Pro.
Most plan details come from secondary write-ups and repeated announcement text, not Google's own pages. Whether it is live in the UK is not stated in anything found. Pricing figures differed between reports and are left out.
